French car brand Citroen was launched in India in its 100th year and the company Showcased its vehicle, C5 Aircross, the first vehicle to be manufactured in India
The French car brand Citroën was launched in India in a function held in Chennai and their flagship vehicle, Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, was also showcased at the event, which will be the first product from the Citroën brand for the Indian customers, being launched before the end of 2020.
Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the Managing Board, Groupe PSA in which Citroen is a part, Linda Jackson, Chief Executive Officer, Citroën Brand, Groupe PSA and Emmanuel Delay, Executive Vice President & Head of India-Pacific, Groupe PSA,. Roland Bouchara, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, Citroën India, were present at the event.
With one new launch every year from 2021 after the New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV the new range of products will be launched in India before the rest of the world. The company is associating with C K Birla group and Tata Consultancy Services in India.
Citroën C5 Aircross is an SUV measuring 4.5mtr in length, robust and muscular, powerful but free of arrogance, the new model stands out in the SUV segment with its flowing shapes large wheels, higher ground clearance and distinctive roof bars. Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is a five-seater and comes with a host of creature comforts.
The SUV gets a a 12.3-inch TFT-digital instrument screen and gets 20 new age driver assistance features including Highway Driver Assist, a level-two autonomous driving system, as well as six advanced connectivity technologies. Safety tech on the C5 Aircross includes multiple airbags, smart headlamps with an auto high beam feature, attention assist, cross-traffic detection, blind spot assist, hill-hold assist and more.
The SUV also gets a digital instrument console. The cabin instantly gives an impression of spaciousness, with an emphatically horizontal dashboard and enveloping seats, seating position that gives the feeling of dominating the road, as well as a wide central console and warm materials. With the Citroën Advanced Comfort, the New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV is the most comfortable model in its segment.
For India, the Citroen C5 Aircross will only be offered with a single engine option – a 130hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Being Citroen’s flagship SUV, the C5 Aircross will act as a brand-builder, but with a high level of imported content, it will be one pricey SUV. Expect the Citroen C5 Aircross’ price in India to be close to the Rs 30 lakh.
